What a day for a parade! Mustangs
March on the 4th of July
Photos by Laura Suchocki

The Marching Mustangs participated in Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows
parades on the 4th of July
The crowds at both parades were enthusiastic and supportive as the Marching
Mustangs passed by. At this year's Arlington Heights parade the attendees
may have set a new record. It was estimated that
50,000 people lined the streets of Arlington Heights this
year to view the spectacular parade. The Marching Mustangs sounded great
playing their "Salute to America" music. Then it was off to Rolling Meadows
where the local crowd is always supportive. This parade also drew thousands
of energetic on-lookers. The hometown crowd cheered and clapped as the
Mustangs passed by. In addition, the Marching Mustangs were featured on ABC
7 News. To view the news story and video clip, click on this link

Only a few
positions remain open for the 2008-09' school year.
We need your help. We have only a few
positions that need to be filled by parents of band students this upcoming
fall school year 2008 through 2009.
Treasurer
Work with Mr. Buti, Mr. Riggs and the
Booster Executive Committee and parents. Write checks; reimburse parents,
pay invoices, teachers and suppliers from Boosters account. Keep the books
in balance using “Quick Books” General Accounting. Authorize checks to be cut and perform a year end audit
with (2) other parents to make sure books are in order.
Junior High Band night
Coordinator
This event takes place on at a Friday night Home football game. All of the
future band students from the area Junior High schools that flow into
Rolling Meadows High School are invited to come out and play with the
Marching Band before the football game. The Music Boosters serve the Junior
High and Marching Band students pizza and escort them to and from the field.
We need someone to head this up, and get helpers to chaperone and serve
food.
It doesn't take up a lot of time.

2008 Marching Mustangs show announced

at Wilmot Wisconsin
The Marching
Mustangs 2008 Halftime/Competition Show is entitled
"Exotic Impressions" by Lewis Norfleet.
Current students have heard and sight-read the music and are
VERY excited about it! In addition, the
show incorporates a great deal of "world" percussion in the pit, including: djembe, dumbecks, congas, hand drums, jingle sticks, rain sticks,
synthesizers, various cymbals, and traditional mallets and drums.
This will be a great enhancement to our marching and percussion
programs. The music, along with a practice CD, will be passed out during the
Early Summer Music Camps
(starting June 24th). The staff, leaders, and current students are anxious
to work on
this exciting show!

Special thanks to the Music
Boosters for their financial assistance in helping us
purchase this original show and the performance rights.
